The Rock Cycle
I learned a lot about the rock cycle these past few weeks. I learned all about Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic rocks. I know that Sedimentary rocks are formed by sediments cementing together over time. Metamorphic rocks are formed by heat and pressure. Igneous rocks are formed by the cooling of magma and lava. Igneous have a lot of things happening during its process of formation.
I also know that there are two different types of Igneous: Extrusive and Intrusive. Intrusive is when trapped magma cools slowly-they have larger crystals and rough textures. Extrusive is when lava cools and hardens quickly- they have smaller crystals and fine texture. There are many different rocks in the rock cycle. You may even have some at home like on your counter tops or in the road.
